About Us

People socializing inside the Elks Lodge Club.
People socializing inside the Elks Lodge Club.

Lodge No. 1659 earns a 4.4-star reputation not by accident, but by the kind of welcome that hits you the moment you walk through the door on North Main Street. Members and guests alike describe the atmosphere as genuinely inviting, the kind of room where strangers become regulars by the end of the evening and the staff know how to make every visit feel like a return home.

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks has stood for four core values since its founding: charity, justice, brotherly love, and fidelity. Flora's Elks carry those principles into everyday life, organizing community programs, supporting veterans, and giving back to Clay County in ways that outlast any single event or fundraiser.

This is a civic institution with a handshake culture. The lodge on Main Street is where local commitments get made, where neighbors show up for each other, and where the American tradition of organized community service stays alive and active in a small Illinois city that still takes that tradition seriously.

What We Offer

Elks Lodge 1659 offers its members and guests a full slate of social, civic, and charitable programming built around the B.P.O.E. mission. The lodge hall provides a gathering space for meetings, dinners, and special events that bring the Flora community together under one roof.

Dining is part of the experience. A partnership with Tammie Jo's Meal House brings home-cooked food into the lodge, giving members a reason to linger and guests a reason to return. The bar operates with the warm, unhurried pace you'd expect from a place where the bartender knows your name and the conversation is always good.

Beyond the social side, the lodge actively pursues its charitable mission through youth programs, veteran support initiatives, and community grants that put Elks dollars to work right here in Flora, Illinois. Membership opens the door to a national organization with local roots and a long record of meaningful civic impact.

"It was very inviting from the first step in the door, there were only a few people in there. However they were a really nice welcoming bunch enjoying a night cap or 2. The bartender, Becky, was a super nice lady. She was very attentive to us and served every drink with a smile. We will definitely go back for another visit."

"We were looking for a restaurant called Yayahs. Drove past this place twice before we decided the Elk Lodge was the restaurant. The vehicles parked in front prevented us from seeing the name. Super glad we were persistent. When we walked in we were still unsure if we were in the right location. But the waiter assured us with a warm welcome that we were at the restaurant and told us we could sit anywhere. It seems the waiter is the owner and a jack of all trades. He took our orders, cooked our burgers, and provided us with a free dessert. Even though he was doing everything he never acted too busy to chat with us for a few minutes. Our meals were excellent! DH had the Double Smash Burger loaded with fries. He said it was tasty. Crispy edges and juicy, just like a burger should be. I had the crispy chicken sandwich, I tend to shy away from the chicken because most cooks overcook chicken so badly that it is dry. Not this chef, it was so juicy. I could have eaten a second sandwich. This will be added to a list of we like this place."
